How CHS measures development and progress
Ages & Stages Questionnaires
ASQ® is widely recognized by early childhood education experts and pediatricians for the developmental screening of a young child’s development. The questionnaires cover multiple areas of development and are conducted several times a year during our home visits.
Individual child portfolios
Each month teachers collect artifacts that document learning for each area of child development. By the end of the year, children have several pieces that reflect their progress.
Gold Milestone Tracker
Twice a year CHS teachers complete the Teaching Strategies Gold Milestone Tracker. They are measuring the social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive progress of our children.
Baseline and summative assessments
Each year we will take baseline and summative assessments for all children in the four most critical areas for kindergarten readiness: math, literacy, social emotional, and executive functioning.
Progress and measurements
While these measurements are regular and ongoing, they also are built into our program design so they are not disruptive to daily schedules and activities.
In addition to understanding the progress of children enrolled in our centers, we also evaluate ourselves to ensure effective implementation of our program.
