CHS Children Receive Plush Toys from the Hershey Bears’ Record-Breaking Teddy Bear Toss

Children at Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning locations recently received plush toys donated from the Hershey Bears’ record-breaking Teddy Bear Toss, held last month. In celebration of the Valentine’s Day holiday, staff creatively distributed the plush toys in heartfelt, memorable ways.

CHS Hershey decorated the donated stuffies with warm messages for Valentine’s Day before sending them home with children and families.

CHS Harrisburg held an “Adopt the Stuffy” event on Valentine’s Day, where children chose a stuffy, picked out a name, and filled out an adoption certificate to take the plush toy home.

The Bears, the most decorated team in the American Hockey League, held their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Jan. 5, 2025, and collected 102,343 stuffed animals thrown onto the ice by fans after Hershey’s first goal of the game.

The total surpassed the club’s previous world record of 74,599 plush toys collected in 2024. The plush toys ranged from teddy bears to a grocery store custodial robot and were donated to local organizations, including Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning.

Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning are subsidiaries of Milton Hershey School and will be staffed and operated independently of the Milton Hershey School core model.
