PennLive Opinion: Catherine Hershey’s beautiful life has touched thousands of children through the schools she helped to found

In a recent opinion piece featured in PennLive, Milton Hershey School Manager of School History and Heritage Center Alicia Schlossberg details the extraordinary life of our namesake Catherine Hershey, who forged her own path during a time when opportunities for women outside the home were few and far between.

“This month, Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning (CHS) will celebrate the grand opening of its Harrisburg location—a life-changing event for scores of children and their loved ones. CHS Hershey is already in operation and several other CHS Centers are scheduled to open in Dauphin and Lancaster counties over the next few years. No one would be prouder of the trailblazing path of CHS than the woman whose name adorns these beautiful buildings—Catherine Hershey herself.”
